WiFi Installation — Common Questions
What's the difference between a WiFi booster and a mesh system?
A WiFi booster (or extender) repeats your existing signal — it works but typically cuts bandwidth in half and creates a separate network your device has to manually switch to. A mesh system uses multiple nodes that all communicate together as one seamless network. Your devices roam automatically and you never lose speed. For most South Florida homes, mesh is the right choice.
How many access points or nodes will I need?
It depends on your home size and construction. A typical 2,000–3,000 sq ft single-story home usually needs 2–3 nodes. Two-story or CBS (concrete block) homes may need more due to signal absorption. We assess this during the free site visit and give you an exact recommendation — no guessing.
Do I need to run ethernet cables for mesh to work?
Not always, but it dramatically improves performance. Wired backhaul (ethernet between nodes) eliminates the wireless bottleneck and delivers faster speeds throughout. If you have existing ethernet runs or are open to adding some, we strongly recommend it. If not, wireless mesh still works well — we'll optimize placement to minimize the performance hit.
Will you work with my existing internet router from my ISP?
Yes. In most cases we put your ISP modem/router into "bridge mode" and let the new mesh system handle all routing. This gives you better performance and control. If your ISP requires their router to be active, we configure the setup to avoid double-NAT issues. We handle all the technical details.
How long does installation take?
Most residential WiFi installations take 2–3 hours. If we're running ethernet cable through walls, it can take 3–5 hours depending on the complexity. Commercial or multi-floor setups may take a full day. We'll give you an accurate time estimate after the site assessment.
What if I already have a system installed — can you improve it?
Absolutely. We often come in to optimize or troubleshoot existing systems — repositioning nodes, adding a wired backhaul, updating firmware, reconfiguring channels to avoid interference, or upgrading underperforming equipment. Sometimes a few tweaks can make a huge difference. We assess and recommend before touching anything.
